2008 County Election Demographics

From a friend I received the following email:

Interesting Presidential Statistics - this blew me away - it is important for any voter to understand:

Interesting Statistics

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:

Number of States won

by: Democrats: 19, by Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won

by Democrats: 580,000, by Republicans: 2,427,000

Population  of  counties won

by Democrats: 127 million, by Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won:

by Democrats: 13.2,  by Republicans:  2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory won by Republicans was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country."

Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare.

Professor Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.”

These statistics are laughable--When was the last time a state or a square mile voted? People vote NOT land. Number of states? Huh? California has a population of over 35 million--greater than the sum of lowest 15 states' populations combined. (It's like saying if someone wins CA, he wins the equivalent of 15 states!) Population of counties won? Okay, but that takes into account sum total of both Republicans and Democrats--Democratic counties are more concentrated. Murder rate? Guess what? Big cities have their problems... At least be smart when you publish statistics

Give me a break. Do you even bother checking the crap that you post?
http://www.factcheck.org/2009/01/unreported-stats/
has the numbers taken from numerous sources. Here are the actual facts:
States won: Obama-28, McCain-22
Population of counties won: Obama-183 million, McCain-119 million
Murder rate: Obama-6.56 per 100,000 inhabitants, McCain-3.6 per 100,000
As for the crap about most people in Obama’s counties being on welfare: 53% of college-educated people vote for Obama. This demographic has the most wealth and the lowest unemployment rate of any group.
As for where they lived: the only demographic McCain won was in small towns and rural areas. It is also well known that rural areas receive way more tax money than those in cities. Residents of Alaska get back more tax money per $1 paid than any other state.
